Connections of "Auxiliary Hydraulic Control Lever LED Float" Indicator
The auxiliary hydraulic LED float mode indicators are controlled by the Implement ECM. The LED circuits are not monitored by the ECM for diagnostics. System power for the LEDs is supplied to the auxiliary control pod connector through the 15 amp implement control fuse. The indicator circuits are connected to ECM sinking outputs. When the ECM detects that the one of the auxiliary control levers is in the float position, the ECM will turn ON the sinking output. This allows a path to ground for the power circuit through the LED which will cause the LED to illuminate.Conditions that could cause an LED indicator to be ON when the auxiliary control lever is not in the float mode are listed:
The LED sinking output circuit is shorted to a ground source in the machine harness.
The ECM has failed. This is not likely. When an LED circuit is ON and the control lever is not in the float position, perform the following troubleshooting procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the "auxiliary control pod".
Disconnect the machine harness ECM connectors J1 and J2 from the Implement ECM.
At the machine harness ECM connectors, measure the resistance from the involved LED circuit contact J2-9, J2-10 or J2-11 to frame ground. Measure the resistance from the LED contact to all of the other contacts that are used in the J1 and J2 ECM connectors. Expected Result:Each resistance measurement is greater than 5kΩ.Results:
OK. - Each resistance measurement is greater than 5kΩ. The resistance measurement does not indicate a short to frame ground or to another circuit in the machine harness. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK. - One or more of the resistance measurements is less than 5kΩ. There is a short to frame ground or to another ground circuit in the machine harness.Repair: Refer to the complete Electrical System Schematic of the machine. Check all of the connectors that are involved in the LED circuit. Ensure that all connections are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. Check the machine harness for areas where there is contact with the machine frame. Look for worn insulation or missing insulation on the wire. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Wiring Harness (Short Circuit) - Test" for more information on finding and correcting a short circuit.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE ECM
Reconnect the ECM connectors to the ECM and reconnect the harness connector to the auxiliary control pod.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
With the LED float indicator ON, use a 151-6320 Removal Tool to remove the involved LED circuit wire from the ECM J2 connector. The J2 connector remains connected to the ECM. Expected Result:The LED
