Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant..

Remove clamp assembly (5) and disconnect elbow (2) from turbocharger (1).
Disconnect hose assembly (4) .
Remove bolts (3).

Attach a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (1). The weight of each turbocharger (1) is approximately 81 kg (178 lb).
Remove tube assembly (9) and bolts (10).
Remove nuts (7) and (8), and the washers. Remove the gasket between exhaust bellows (6) and turbocharger (1). Remove turbocharger (1).
Repeat this process on the opposite side.
