3208 Truck EnginesSome 3208 Truck Engines have had auxiliary bypass oil filters installed. The oil fill capacities shown in the Operator's Guides are only for truck engines equipped with a standard filter. If auxiliary bypass oil filters are used in addition to the standard oil filter, or any other optional attachment is installed, be sure to add enough extra oil to fill the auxiliary bypass oil filter and/or other optional attachments. Failure to add the necessary extra oil can result in engine failure because the auxiliary oil filter will fill before any oil is available to the engine.
...After the old oil is drained from the crankcase and new elements have been installed in the engine and auxiliary oil filters, fill the engine crankcase with the correct amount of oil. For the correct amount of oil, see the Operation and Maintenance Guide for the engine. In addition to this amount, add the extra amount of oil needed to fill the auxiliary filters.
...Start the engine and operate it at LOW IDLE for two minutes.
...Stop the engine and wait thirty seconds, then check the oil level on the dipstick. Add or remove oil as necessary to bring the level to the FULL mark on the dipstick.
