(12)Track Screw Adjustment
Check adjustment. Correct adjustment allows 1.5 to 2 inches (38 to 55 mm) sag at this point. 1. Remove guards.
Do not exceed 17.5 inches (444 mm) at A. Damage to screw could result.
2. Loosen rod clamp nuts. 3. Turn adjusting nut clockwise to tighten track, counter clockwise to loosen.4. Drive tractor back and forth. Recheck adjustment and dimension A.5. Tighten clamp nuts and install guards.Contact your Caterpillar dealer if correct adjustment cannot be obtained.Hydraulic Adjustment
1. Remove bolt and open valve access cover. 2. To tighten, add multipurpose type grease at fill valve fitting.
Do not attempt to tighten track when dimension B will be over 4.50 inch (114 mm). Contact your Caterpillar dealer for track service.
3. Drive tractor back and forth to equalize pressure. Recheck adjustment and dimension B.4. Close cover and install bolt.If track is too tight
1. Be sure idler can retract. Loosen relief valve one turn to allow grease to escape.
Never visually inspect relief valve or fill valve to see if grease is escaping. Always observe track to see if it has loosened.
2. Tighten relief valve when adjustment is correct.3. Operate tractor back and forth to equalize pressure.4. Recheck adjustment.If track did not loosen
1. Remove guards and loosen fill valve one turn. Operate tractor. 2. Loosen relief valve until it touches guard. 3. Loosen fill valve until it touches guard.4. Operate tractor until adjustment is correct. Tighten fill and relief valves.5. Install guards. Contact your Caterpillar dealer if correct adjustment cannot be obtained.(13)Batteries
Remove cover. Remove filler cap and check electrolyte level. Maintain electrolyte level to bottom of triangular opening in filler tube. At proper charging rate, batteries will not require more than 1 ounce (30 cc) of water per cell per week. Keep batteries clean.
