Information:

1. Install O-ring (43) on the housing.2. Assemble the pinion assembly as follows: a. Put holding fixture (A) in a vise.b. Install pinion retainer (40) on holding fixture (A). Make sure groove (49) is in alignment with the dowel.c. Install nut (34) to hold the pinion retainer.d. Install large bearing cone (42) and cone spacer (41) and the retainer. e. Lower the temperature of the large and small bearing cup and install them in pinion (50). Use driver (E) to be sure the cups are seated against the pinion shoulders. f. Install pinion (50), small bearing cone (37). Remove nut (34) and install lock (35) and nut (36). Install nut (34).g. Use spanner wrench (F) to tighten nut (36) to a torque of 70 15 N m (50 11 lb ft). Turn the pinion slowly while nut (36) is tightened.h. Bend a tab in lock (35) to keep nut (36) in position.i. Repeat Steps 2a through 2h for the other three pinions. 3. Install the four pinion assemblies on the spider. 4. Install the thrust washer and gear (31). Make sure the grooves in the thrust washer are in alignment with the dowels in the housing. 5. Fasten a hoist to spider (30) and install the spider in the housing. Make sure the groove in each pinion assembly is in alignment with its dowel in the housing.6. Install gear (51) and washer (52). 7. Heat bearing (24) to a temperature of 135°C (275°F) and install it on housing (29). 8. Fasten a hoist to housing (29) and install the housing on the case. Make sure the grooves in the thrust washer are in alignment with the dowels in the housing. 9. Install bolts (28). Tighten bolts (28) to a torque of 460 70 N m (339 52 lb ft). Turn bolts (28) by an additional 180 10 degrees. 10. Fasten a hoist to differential group (26) and install it on gear (27). 11. Install bolts (25) and tighten to a torque of 750 80 N m (550 60 lb ft).12. Heat the other differential bearing to a temperature of 135°C (275°F) and install it on the differential group. 13. Fasten a hoist and lifting straps to differential (22) and lower the differential into position with rings (20) and bearings (23) in place. 14. Install bearing caps (19) and fasten with bolts (17) and washers (18). Tighten bolts (17) to a torque of 1825 175 N m (1340 130 lb ft). 15. Heat bearing (15) to a temperature of 135°C (275°F) and install it on the pinion. 16. Lower the temperature of bearing cups (14) and install them in the bevel pinion housing. 17. Install two 5/8" - 11 NC forged eyebolts in the bevel pinion housing. Use a hoist to lower housing (8) onto the bevel pinion. 18. Install bearing and locknut (10). While the pinion is turned, tighten locknut (10) by hand it is against the bearing.
