Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the oscillating axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove".

Place the oscillating axle on suitable blocking, as shown.
Remove yoke (1) from the differential pinion shaft.

Fasten a suitable lifting device to front trunnion support (2) . Remove the front trunnion support from the oscillating axle. The weight of front trunnion support (2) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

Remove lip seal (3) from the front trunnion support. Repeat this step for the lip seal on the opposite side of the front trunnion support.
Remove retaining ring (4) that holds sleeve bearing (5) in the front trunnion support.
Use a press to remove sleeve bearing (5) from the front trunnion support.Installation Procedure

B     5P-0960     Grease Cartridge     1    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Use a suitable press and Tooling (A) to install sleeve bearing (5) in front trunnion support (2) . Make sure that the sleeve bearing contacts the counterbore in the front trunnion support.
Install retaining ring (4) that holds sleeve bearing (5) in front trunnion support (2) .

(3) Lip Seal. (4) Retaining Ring. (5) Sleeve Bearing.Note: Each seal must be installed so that the sealing lip is facing toward the outside of the front trunnion support, as shown.

Use a suitable press and Tooling (A) to install lip seal (3) in both sides of the front trunnion support. Make sure that the seals contact the counterbores in the front trunnion support.
Apply Tooling (B) on the sealing lips of the lip seals.

Fasten a suitable lifting device to front trunnion support (2) . Install the front trunnion support on the oscillating axle. The weight of front trunnion support (2) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).
