Install two seals (17) in rod assembly (7). Apply 4C-4032 Bearing Mount Compound to both seals before installing in rod assembly (7).

Install seal (15) and backup ring (16) on head assembly (5). Refer to Illustration 24 for the correct installation of backup ring (16).Note: Before you assemble head assembly (5) to cylinder assembly (8), lubricate the sealing lip of seal (15) with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install seal (12), backup ring (13), and seal (14) onto head assembly (5). Apply 4C-4032 Bearing Mount Compound to seal (14) before installing in head assembly (5).Note: Before you assemble head assembly (5) onto rod assembly (7), lubricate the sealing lip of seal (12) and seal (14) with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to install head assembly (5) onto rod assembly (7). Head assembly (5) weighs approximately 61 kg (134 lb).Note: Before installing head assembly (5), align the bolt pattern of head assembly (5) with the bolt pattern of cylinder assembly (8).
Use a plastic hammer to carefully position head assembly (5) onto rod assembly (7).

Install ball (11), plate (10) and wear ring (9) onto rod assembly (7).

Use a suitable lifting device to assemble rod assembly (7) and head assembly (5) to cylinder assembly (8). The combined weight of rod assembly (7) and head assembly (5) is approximately 490 kg (1080 lb). Cylinder assembly (8) weighs approximately 390 kg (860 lb).Note: Before you install bolts (6), align the bolt pattern in cylinder assembly (8) with the bolt pattern in head assembly (5).

Attach rod assembly (7) and head assembly (5) to cylinder assembly (8) by using 16 bolts (6) and 16 washers. Use Tooling (C) and Tooling (D) to tighten bolts (6).

Install the rear suspension cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rear Suspension (Cylinder) - Install" for the correct procedure.
Install the pressure sensor of VIMS for the suspension cylinder.
