At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
1. Release the pressure in the cooling system. Drain the coolant below the level of the engine oil cooler.
Typical Example2. Loosen the hose clamp that holds hose (2) to pipe (4).3. Remove eight bolts (1) that hold the engine oil cooler in position.4. Move pipe (4) toward the rear of the machine, and remove engine oil cooler (3) and the gaskets. 5. Using a 3.0 mm (.12 in) diameter rod (5), clean the tube bundles in the engine oil cooler. The following steps are for the installation of the engine oil cooler.6. Check the condition of the gaskets used with the engine oil cooler. If the gaskets are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.7. Put the gaskets and engine oil cooler (3) in position, and install eight bolts (1) which hold it.8. Tighten the hose clamp that holds hose (2) on pipe (4).9. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level.
