GASKET 2538958 - Caterpillar

1. Remove the oil from both final drive compartments. Remove the cover from each wheel. 2. Slide both axles (1) out about 12 in. (30 cm) from axle housing. 3. Remove rear counterweight (2). Weight of counterweight is 2400 lb. (1090 kg).4. Remove front counterweight (3). Weight of counterweight is 1700 lb. (770 kg). 5. Remove the bolts (11) that fasten yoke to the drive shaft. Remove the bolts and nuts that hold drive shaft (12) to front frame.6. Disconnect the six brake lines from the quick release and holding valve (5).7. Remove oil lines (10) and (13) for the lift cylinder. Remove oil line (9).8. Remove the two oil lines (8) and (14).9. Disconnect the remainder of the lines from brackets (4) and (7).10. Cut brackets (4) and (7) from the frame. 11. Remove the two bolts (6). Loosen remainder of bolts enough to install lifting bracket (A).12. Fasten a hoist to the lifting bracket. Remove all of the mounting bolts. Remove the front differential and carrier assembly. Weight of assembly is 350 lb. (159 kg).Install Front Differential And Carrier Assembly
1. Fasten a hoist to the lifting bracket and put the differential and carrier assembly into position in front axle housing. 2. Install two bolts to hold differential and carrier assembly in place. Remove lifting bracket (A).3. Install the remainder of mounting bolts (2). Tighten the bolts to 195 18 lb.ft. (27,0 2,5 mkg). 4. Put the front drive shaft (1) into position, and install the bolts and nuts that fasten it to the front frame.5. Install the bolts that fasten the drive shaft to the yoke. Tighten the bolts to 98 10 lb.ft. (13,6 1,4 mkg).6. Weld the two brackets for the oil lines into place on the frame.7. Connect the oil lines to the brackets.8. Install the five oil lines. 9. Connect the six brake lines to the quick release and holding valve (3). 10. Install the front counterweight (5) and the rear counterweight (4).11. Push the axles into position, and install the covers.12. Fill the axle housing and final drives with oil to the correct level.
