The dimensions shown are to the center of the hole in bracket (1). According to the machine brackets (1) are at several different locations. Some brackets are installed on top of the frame rail, as shown; some are installed under the frame rail or fastened to the inside of the frame rails. All of the brackets are installed by similar procedures, except for 992 machines; a separate procedure is given for this machine.1 Use an Arcair torch to remove support brackets (1). If only one bracket is damaged, use the other bracket and the transfer gear case to help find the location to install the new bracket. Lift the transfer gear case with a jack. Machine the center hole in bracket (1) to get dimension (Z). Install bracket (1) on transfer gear case support (2). Lower the transfer gear case and put bracket (1) in position at the location shown. Make welds as shown along each side of brackets (1). 2 On 992 machines, use an Arcair torch to remove the damaged bracket and grind the area smooth where the bracket was removed. Machine bore (A) of new bracket (3) to 63.4Ø (2.496"Ø). Put bracket (3) in position on the transfer gear case support and lower the transfer gear case to put bracket (3) in position on the frame as shown in the chart on page 2. Tack weld bracket (3) in position. Make a 10.2 (.4") J-groove weld along top side (B). Make a 12.7 (.5") fillet weld along bottom side (C). Make 16.0 (.62") bevel groove welds along sides (D) and (E). Make a 25.4 (1.0") J-groove weld along the top of the frame rail at (F). Make a 25.4 (1.0") bevel groove weld along the top of the frame rail at (G). Grind smooth all the welds around bracket (3).
