Connections for “Operator Present” Switch
This diagnostic code is associated with the “Operator Present” switch. The switch supplies 2 switch to ground types of inputs to the "Transmission/Chassis ECM", "Implement ECM 2", and to the Implement ECM. The ECM expects one of the two inputs of the switch to be grounded at all times. When the ECM detects that both of the inputs of the switch are grounded at the same time, the ECM will activate an FMI 04 diagnostic code for “voltage below normal”.Some conditions that can cause this diagnostic code are listed below:
One or both of the switch inputs is shorted to a ground source.
The switch has failed.
The ECM has failed. A failure of the Transmission/Chassis ECM is unlikely. Note: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.

(2) Closed to ECM return J1-23 (A295-BK(Black) - ground).Note: The “Operator Present” switch provides two inputs to the "Transmission/Chassis ECM", "Implement ECM 2", and to the Implement ECM. If one ECM has an active diagnostic code and the other ECM does not have an active diagnostic code, the switch is probably operating correctly. This condition would indicate that there is a problem in the machine harness. In either case, perform this procedure in order to find the cause of the problem. Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected. Test Step 1. CHECK THE SWITCH
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Ensure that the diagnostic code is active.
Connect a laptop to the ET connector. Use the Cat ET program on the laptop to monitor the status of the diagnostic code.
Observe the status of the diagnostic code while the connector of the switch is disconnected from the machine harness. Reconnect the switch and disconnect the switch again. Observe the status of the diagnostic code. Expected Result:The active CID 2113 FMI 04 diagnostic code remains the same when the switch is disconnected. Results:
OK - The CID 2113 FMI 04 diagnostic code remains the same . Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The CID 2113 FMI 04 diagnostic code is NO longer active. A CID 2113 FMI 03 diagnostic code becomes active when the connector of the switch is disconnected. The machine harness and the ECM are operating correctly. The switch has failed.Repair: Replace the “Operator Present” switch. After replacement
