Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. In order to prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing, adjusting or working on any hydraulic components.
a. Move the machine to a smooth, hard and dry horizontal surface. Move away from working machines and personnel. Lower the blade or attachment to the ground. Stop the machine.b. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel either away from the machine or in view of the operator.c. Engage the parking brake. Put blocks in front of and behind the wheels.d. Push the brake pedal many times until there is no more brake oil pressure.e. When the blade or attachment is raised for test, adjustments or maintenance, make sure that the blade or attachment has proper support. The lift circuit has high oil pressure when the lift arms raise the front of the machine. Do not stop the engine with the front of the machine off of the ground, unless a system test requires it. Lower the front of the machine to the ground and stop the engine.f. Install the steering frame lock link so the machine can not turn.g. Move the hydraulic control levers to all positions in order to release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Place the tilt control in the FLOAT position. Place the lift control in the HOLD position.h. Carefully loosen the fill cap on the hydraulic tank in order to release the pressure in the tank.j. Make sure that all hydraulic pressure is released before any fitting, hose or component is loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted.k. Tighten the fill cap on the hydraulic tank. For photographic purposes the platform and ladder were removed. They do not generally have to be removed from the machine to remove filters. 5. Loosen bolt (1) and the washer from cover (2). Remove the cover with its O-ring seal. 6. Remove filter element (3). 7. Remove retaining ring (6), spacer (5) and six disc springs (4) from cover (2).8. Disassemble cover (2) by removing retaining ring (7). 9. Remove bolt (9) from the cover to remove O-ring (10).10. Remove spacer (8) from bolts (9).11. Remove O-ring seal (11) from the cover.12. Repeat Steps 5 through 11 for the other hydraulic oil filter (in tank). Install hydraulic oil filters in the reverse order of removal.16. Check the oil level in to the hydraulic tank. See the Operation And Maintenances Manual for the correct procedure.17. Disconnect the steering frame lock link. See the topic "Separate and Connect Steering Frame Lock Link" in this module.18. Start the machine, and check for leaks.
