Start By:a. remove rear differential, bevel gear and front support1. Remove the differential from the carrier assembly. See the topic "Disassemble Differential & Bevel Gear" in this module. 2. Using tooling (A), remove the bearing cone from the differential. 3. Remove the bolts and washer that hold the bevel gear to the differential assembly. Separate the differential assembly from the bevel gear. The weight of the differential assembly is 113 kg (250 lb). The weight of the bevel gear is 34 kg (75 lb). 4. Put the differential assembly on wood block as shown. Using tooling (B), remove the bearing cone on the opposite end of the differential assembly.5. Remove the bolts and washer that hold the differential assembly together.6. Install two 5/8" - 11 NC forged eyebolts with nuts through the bevel gear bolt holes in the case assembly. Fasten a hoist to the case assembly, and remove it from the differential case. Side gear (2) is spring loaded. 7. Remove side gear (2), spring (3) and the spring retainer 8. Remove clutch assembly (4). Remove the ring from the clutch assembly using washer (5) to spread ring (6). 9. Remove spider (7). 10. Remove cam (8) from the spider. Use two pieces of 0.5 mm (.020 in) thick shim stock, four 7/16 " x 127 mm (5 in) bolts and a pry bar as follows: a. Expand one side of the retainer, near the split, with a pry bar. b. Install shim stock between the retainer ring and cam ring. c. Expand the other side of the ring near the split, and install another piece of shim stock.d. Expand the retaining ring at four locations, and install the bolts.e. Hit the cam ring with a soft faced hammer to remove it from the spider.Assemble Differential (NoSPIN) (3RL1-UP & 92Z559-UP)
1. Install the cam ring in the spider. Use two pieces of 0.5 mm (.020 in) thick shim stock, four 7/16 " x 127 mm (5 in) bolts and a pry bar as follows: a. Install retaining ring (1) in the spider. b. Put cam ring (2) inside the spider. c. Insert two pieces of shim stock between the cam ring and the retainer ring. One piece of shim stock must be on each side of the ring split. d. Expand the ring with a pry bar, and install the bolts as shown. e. With the retainer ring expanded, tap the cam ring into place with a soft faced hammer. f. Remove the bolts and shim stock. The retainer ring should snap into the groove in the cam ring. 2. Install holdout rings (3) in the clutches. Spread the ring to clear the retaining flange. The holdout ring retainer must engage with the groove in the clutch completely. 3. Install the spring in the side gear. Install the clutch assembly over the side gear. 4. Install spring retainer (4). 5. Install the spider assembly. 6. Install the other clutch assembly.7. Install the other spring retainer, spring and
