7.3In menu (2-3) choose which species to calibrate, then press 3. A correction ratio is used for the length measuring. The value of the ratio depends on the depth that the measuring wheel embeds into the wood, and other factors. The calibration can be done in two ways: 1) The length of the last log is displayed. The correct manually measured length is entered and the computer will automatically calculate the new correction ratio.2) The correction ratio can be adjusted directly. 1 step = 1/1000th, which means 5mm in a 5m log. Increasing the ratio increases the length shown.The correction ratio is normally in the range 980 to 998 (With worn wheels, the ratio tends to be lower). The bigger the ratio, the shorter the log (see above illustration, 2-3-3) The length calibration affects the measuring accuracy. The correct cutting length is determined by the length setting (section 6.1.1 Programming Presets).
