Changes Implemented in Flash File
Issue
ARD nozzles can potentially become plugged due to fuel deposit buildup on the nozzle tip. Resolution
Following a regeneration, a small amount of fuel will be spritzed through the ARD nozzle to ensure that old fuel is not present in the nozzle during a heater cycle.Issue
During a regeneration, certain operating conditions can cause the diesel particulate filter (DPF) inlet temperature to exceed the desired set time threshold and trip an E1008 (1): High DPF #1 Intake Temperature. The event code is accompanied by the amber warning light and a pop-up message on the display. These can create operator confusion and unnecessary downtime.Resolution
The event code will continue to log in Cat ET, but the operator notifications will be suppressed to eliminate operator concern and confusion.Issue
The software can activate the ARD intake pressure substitution strategy erroneously when the sensor is faulted. When substitution is active, high speed regens are disabled. This reduces available regen opportunities when a regen is required. Resolution
An ambient temperature check was included to ensure that the substitution strategy is only active in cold ambient conditions. If this condition is detected, the ARD intake pressure sensor measurement will be substituted with estimated compressor out pressure. When substitution is active, high speed regenerations will be disabled but low speed regenerations can still occur. If the substitution is NOT active and the sensor is faulted, all regenerations (high and low speed) will be disabled until sensor issue is corrected.Issue
Various causes, such as high temperatures in the fuel lines, can falsely trip E1050 (2): High Aftertreatment #1 Fuel Pressure #1 and E1051 (2): High Aftertreatment #1 Fuel Pressure #2 event codes. The causes create unnecessary downtime and repairs because future regenerations are disabled with the event codes.Resolution
Diagnostic thresholds have been re-calibrated to prevent false tripping of diagnostics. Issue
The Cat ET Nozzle Heater override will not function if a regeneration is being desired by the software.Resolution
The Cat ET Nozzle Heater override will now give nozzle heater cycles higher priority over regens for the first 50% of the cycle.Issue
If the Cat ET Nozzle Heater override is not turned off prior to the completion of the heating cycle, automatic and forced regenerations are disabled for the remainder of the key cycle.Resolution
Regenerations will now be allowed without a key cycle once the service test has completed.Issue
To aid dealer technicians in selecting the correct flash files for each, it was requested to provide software naming which would be displayed on all end-user systems, i.e. SIS Web and Cat ET.Resolution
Support was added for flash file naming for FL2 files, with the software name matching in SIS Web and Cat ET to aid in selecting the correct flash file.Issue
At ambient temperatures below −13° C (8.6° F), engines can log E1093(1): Low EGR Differential Pressure event codes, potentially due to differential pressure sensor freezing and not being allowed sufficient time to thaw.Resolution
The cold mode strategy was updated to include additional time to allow a potentially frozen sensor time to thaw.Issue
Simultaneous operation of the ARD spark
