To install the 133-4296 Seal even with the outer surface of the 8E-5070 Bearing Cage or the 140-7448 Bearing Cage, the outer lip of the bearing cage must be machined. The distance from the bottom of the seal bore to the outer face of the bearing cage is 16.5 0.5 mm (0.6496 0.020 inch). The machined surface must remain perpendicular to the output shaft.Installation Instructions
Note: The 133-4296 Seal must not be driven into the bore until the seal bottoms out. If the seal is positioned to the bottom of the bore, the seal will be distorted. The distorted seal will cause leaks. The seal MUST be flush with the outer surface of the bearing cage at installation of a new bearing cage or a modified bearing cage.

208-0810 Seal Driver
A 208-0810 Seal Driver is required in order to properly install the new 133-4296 Seal .
Remove the drive shaft, and the yoke per the Service Manual procedures.
Clean the journal for the yoke seal with cleaning fluid. Allow the journal for the yoke seal to air dry. The journal for the seal may be polished with an emery cloth. The marks from the polishing procedure must be perpendicular to the centerline of the shaft. The marks on the journal during rotation should rotate parallel with the lip of the seal. If the polishing marks are at an angle to the rotation, the journal can work as threads on a screw. Dirt can be pushed in and oil can be pulled out of the transmission as the shaft rotates in the forward direction or the reverse direction.Note: Do not polish the journal unless the surface is corroded.Note: When a 133-4296 Seal is installed in a modified bearing cage, the outer lip of the 133-4296 Seal will be in contact with the journal approximately 2.5 mm (0.0984 inch) from the position of the previous seal in a non-modified cage. The seal lip will be in contact with the journal at a point that was exposed to the elements. Use extra care to ensure that the sealing surface is clean and smooth. In order to ensure a clean, smooth sealing surface, the journal should be cleaned an additional 3.18 mm (0.125 inch). A new yoke may be required in order to obtain a good sealing surface if the existing journal is corroded in this area.
Apply clean oil that is being sealed to the new 133-4296 Seal and to the bore.Note: Do not remove the grease that is between the inner dust lips and the outer dust lips. This grease is used to provide additional lubrication. Refer to Illustration 2.

Example of a Seal That Is Installed in a New Bearing Cage or a Modified Bearing Cage
If the seal is being installed in one of the bearing cages that is listed, position the 208-0810 Seal Driver (3) on the shaft with the large diameter against the seal.
