Install the outer brake springs and the inner brake springs.

Install the retainer plate for the spring into the piston housing.

Compress the spring retainer plate past the snap ring groove in the piston housing.

Install the snap ring into the piston housing. Tap the snap ring around the diameter to ensure proper engagement.

Once the snap ring is securely installed, you can remove the tool.Note: Never remove the snap ring without first compressing the spring retainer plate.

Install the brake piston assembly onto the brake ring gear.

Install five dowel pins through the brake piston into the gear for the brake ring. Position the dowel pins half into the ring gear and half into the piston housing.

Install an O-ring into the groove in the housing for the brake piston. Apply some grease to the O-ring in order to help keep the ring in position.

Install the oil seal into the input flange. The oil seal should face the bearing bore. Take care not to damage the seal upon installation.

Install the ball bearing into the input flange above the oil seal. The fit between the bearing and the housing should be snug.

Install the assembled input housing onto the brake piston. Take care not to damage the O-ring upon installation.

Activate the brake with a hand pump in order to allow the section of the brake piston to fully engage. This will ease the installation of the bolts for final assembly.

Install the socket head cap screws through the completed brake assembly. Torque the socket head cap screws in a star pattern to 69 N m (51 lb ft).

Install five dowel pins that are flush with the face of the input flange on the brake.
Install the brake assembly to the speed reducer.
Repeat this procedure for the other brake assembly.
In order to disassemble the brake assembly, follow this procedure in the reverse order.
