Leaving the machine unattended when the engine is running may result in personal injury or death. Before leaving the machine operator station, neutralize the travel controls, and place the machine in park mode.
Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load can result in overheating and accelerated wear of engine components.Refer to the following procedure to allow the engine to cool and to prevent excessive temperatures in the turbocharger housing, which could cause oil coking problems.
Never turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position while the engine is running. Serious damage to the electrical system may result.
Park the machine on level ground. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Stopping the Machine" for the recommended procedure.
Lower the leveling jacks to the ground manually. Apply a slight downward pressure to support the machine. Refer to this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Leveling"
While the machine is stopped, run the engine for 5 minutes at low idle. Idling the engine allows hot areas of the engine to cool gradually.
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position and remove the key. Refer to this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Operator Controls".Note: The engine may delay before completely shutting down. Delayed engine shutdowns aid in cooling the engine components. See "Delayed Engine Shutdown"Note: The engine will not restart if the air system is pressurized. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position. If the engine does not stop after a delayed engine shutdown cycle, perform the following procedure.

The switch is on the right side of the machine near the battery disconnect switch.

Lift cover (1).
Push switch (2) upward. This should stop the engine.Note: Use the engine start switch to stop the engine first. Use the engine stop control as an alternate method to stop the engine.
Return the switch to the original position. The engine will be enabled to start.Note: Do not operate the machine again until the malfunction has been corrected.
Use the method that follows if the previous steps do not stop the engine.Stop the Engine if an Electrical Malfunction Occurs
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position. If the engine does not stop after a delayed engine shutdown cycle, perform the following procedure.

The fuel shutoff valve is on the water separator.
Shut off the fuel supply by turning the fuel shutoff valve clockwise. The engine will stop after consuming the fuel in the fuel line. The engine may continue to run for a few minutes.Repair the engine before you restart the engine. The fuel system may need to be primed.
