Servovalve Pressure Setting Adjustment (Axial Piston-Type Pump)
If it is necessary to change the pressure setting of the compensator valve in the servovalve, remove cap (2). Spring (1) and shims (4) can be in the cap when it is removed. Either add shims (4) for an increase or remove shims for a decrease in the pressure setting of the servovalve. Install cap (2) and test the pressure setting after an adjustment has been made.
SERVOVALVE
1. Spring. 2. Cap. 3. Spring. 4. Shims. 5. Shims. The pump output, gpm (liter/min), for bulldozer operation can be changed by the thickness (amount of) shims (5) between the connector and the spring but a hydraulic test bench is needed to make the test and adjustment.Ripper Relief Valve
To test the pressure setting of the relief valve, for the ripper it must be removed from the control valve and put on either a hydraulic test bench or as in the explanation RELIEF VALVE TEST FIXTURE.The correct pressure setting of the ripper relief valve is either 3750 50 psi (25 800 345 kPa) with a flow of 10 3 U.S. gpm (38 11 liter/min) or 3350 50 psi (23 100 345 kPa) with a flow of .5 U.S. gpm (2 liter/min).
RIPPER RELIEF VALVE
1. Locknut. 2. Locknut. 3. Adjustment screw. To change the pressure setting of the relief valve remove locknut (1), loosen locknut (2) and turn adjustment screw (3). Turn adjustment screw (3) clockwise for an increase or counterclockwise for a decrease in the pressure setting of the relief valve. Tighten locknut (2) after each adjustment, and when the adjustment is correct install locknut (1).Main Relief Valve (Engine with Axial Piston-Type Pump)
The pressure setting is 3000 50 psi (20 700 345 kPa) with a flow of .5 U.S. gpm (2 liter/min) for the main relief valve, in the implement control valve, when the tractor engine has an axial piston-type pump. The relief valve must be removed from the control valve and put on either a hydraulic test bench or a relief valve test fixture, if it is necessary to test the pressure setting of the relief valve. To adjust the pressure setting use the procedure in MAIN RELIEF VALVE ADJUSTMENT.Relief Valve Test Fixture
A fixture to test the pressure setting of a relief valve can be easily assembled with all Caterpillar parts. The test fixture is used with either a 3S6224 or an 8S8033 Electric Hydraulic Pump (a tool).Put the relief valve to be tested (20) in the opening with threads in inlet housing (19). Connect the two hoses from the electric hydraulic pump to couplers (4). Move the flow control lever, on the electric hydraulic pump, to a position parallel to the hose connected to the coupling in the tee with the pressure gauge.Activate the switch, for the electric hydraulic pump, and look at pressure gauge (1). The high pressure on the gauge is the setting of the relief valve.
