GASKET 3032004 - Caterpillar

1. Start the machine. Fully extend the stick cylinder. Put the bottom of the bucket flat on the ground or floor.
Do not disconnect the hydraulic oil lines from the master cylinder until all the hydraulic oil pressure in the circuit has been released.
2. Disconnect and remove two hydraulic oil lines (2) and grease line (1). Put plugs in the lines and openings in cylinder. 3. Fasten a hoist to the master cylinder as shown. Remove four bolts and cap (3) from each side on the top master cylinder pin. 4. Fasten a hoist to tooling (A). Use tooling (A) to remove the top master cylinder pin. Lower the end of the cylinder to the floor. 5. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder as shown. Remove four bolts and cap (4) from each end of the bottom master cylinder pin. 6. Fasten a hoist to tooling (A). Use tooling (A) to remove the bottom master cylinder pin. Lower the cylinder to the floor. The weight of the master cylinder is 480 lb. (216 kg).Install Master Cylinder
1. Fasten a hoist to master cylinder (1) and lift the cylinder into position as shown. The weight of the master cylinder is 480 lb. (216 kg). 2. Install tool (A) on bottom master cylinder pin (2). Push the pin into the frame and cylinder as shown. 3. Install cap (3) on each end of the bottom master cylinder pin with four bolts and lockwashers. 4. Lift the top end of the master cylinder into position on the boom. Install tool (A) on the top master cylinder pin (4). Push the pin into the boom and cylinder as shown. 5. Install cap (5) on each end of the top master cylinder pin with four bolts and lockwashers. 6. Inspect and make a replacement, if necessary, of the seals on the two hydraulic hoses (7). Connect the two hoses to the cylinder. Connect grease line (6) to the cylinder.Disassemble Master Cylinder
start by:a) remove master cylinder 1. Install the master cylinder on tooling (A). Use tooling (B) as shown to remove the bearing assembly and seals from the rod end and cylinder end. 2. Fully extend rod (1). Install hold down strap (2) and support (3) [part of tooling (A)]. 3. Remove six bolts (5) and remove tube assembly (6) from the cylinder. Remove eight bolts (4) and use tooling (A) to remove the cylinder from the head and piston. 4. Use tooling (C) as shown to remove the nut which holds the piston on the rod. 5. Remove piston (7) from the rod. 6. Remove seal assembly (8) and wear ring (9) from the piston. 7. Install head (10) on cylinder (11) with four bolts as shown. Use tooling (A) to remove the head from the rod. Remove the four bolts and remove the head from the cylinder. 8. Remove back-up ring and O-ring seal (12) from the head. 9. Remove three seals (13) from the head.Assemble Master Cylinder
1. Install three seals in head (1).
