Implement Pump Standby Pressure - Test and Adjust
The standby pressure may need to be adjusted when the implement pump is not upstroking or destroking properly. The standby pressure is controlled by a load sensing valve in the implement pump. The load sensing valve will be tested and adjusted in this procedure.

Personal injury or death can result from escaping fluid under pressure.Escaping fluid under pressure, even a very small pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue and cause serious injury and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Ensure that the hydraulic oil in the system is at normal operating temperature. Park the machine on a level surface.

Bogie Float Switches are located on the Right Side of the Cab.
Ensure that all of the wheels are in contact with the ground. Place each bogie float switch in the FLOAT position.

Place the operating mode switch in the ROADING MODE position.

Parking Brake Switch
Place the parking brake switch in the ON position. Stop the engine.
Install the steering frame lock. Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.

Move the cover off the implement control valve.

Forwarders (1) Pressure tap for implement pump pressure. (2) Pressure tap for signal pressure.
Install a 198-4240 Digital Pressure Indicator on pressure tap (1). Pressure tap (1) is located on the "PX" port of the implement control valve.
Start the engine. The pressure should be 5000 kPa (725 psi). If the pressure is correct, go to Step 13. If the standby pressure is not adjusted to the correct pressure setting, perform Steps 9 through 12.
Lower the bottom guard in order to access the bottom of the implement pump.

Loosen locknut (3). Turn adjusting screw (4). Loosen locknut (3). Note: One turn of the screw will adjust the setting 2500 kPa (360 psi).
Tighten locknut (3) .
Repeat Step 8.
Remove the test equipment.
Install the bottom guard.
