Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the BrakeSaver control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "BrakeSaver Control Valve - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Disconnect oil line (1) from the left side of the engine oil pan.

Remove oil pan bolts (2). Remove BrakeSaver engine oil pan (3) from the cylinder block.

Remove baffle assembly (4) and the O-ring seal from the oil pan.
Remove tube assembly (5) and the O-ring seal from the oil pan.Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Check condition of the O-rings. If the O-rings are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
Ensure that the oil pan is free of oil and gasket material.
Apply 8T-9022 Silicone Gasket to the sealing surface of the engine oil pan. Also apply a small amount of 8T-9022 Silicone Gasket to the space at the joints of the following components: the front plate, the BrakeSaver engine oil pan, the cylinder block and the flywheel housing.

Typical example
Install the O-ring seal and the tube assembly (5) in the oil pan.
Install the O-ring seal and the baffle assembly (4) in the oil pan.

Install two 3/8 - 16 NCguide bolts in the cylinder block. Install oil pan (3) and bolts (2). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft). If the oil drain plug was removed, install the plug. Tighten the plug to a torque of 70 15 N m (52 11 lb ft).
