GASKET 3866922 - Caterpillar

The high voltage that is produced by an operating generator set can cause severe injury or death. Before performing any maintenance or repairs, ensure that the generator will not start.Place the engine control switch in the "OFF" position. Attach "DO NOT OPERATE" tags to all starting controls. Disconnect the batteries or disable the starting system. Lock out all switchgear and automatic transfer switches that are associated with the generator.
Pressurized System: Hot coolant can cause serious burns. To open the cooling system filler cap, stop the engine and wait until the cooling system components are cool. Loosen the cooling system pressure cap slowly in order to relieve the pressure.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Caterpillar Extended Life Coolant (ELC) does not require the frequent Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA) additions that are associated with conventional coolants. The Extender only needs to be added once.Check the cooling system only when the engine is stopped and cool.
Loosen the cooling system filler cap on the heat exchanger slowly in order to relieve pressure. Remove the cooling system filler cap.
It may be necessary to drain enough coolant from the cooling system in order to add the Extender.Note: Do not add the Extender to the coolant recovery tank, if equipped. Add the Extender directly to the heat exchanger.
Add Extender according to the requirements for your engine's cooling system capacity. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" in the Maintenance Section for the capacity of the cooling system for your engine. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Specifications" information for the Caterpillar ELC Extender additions.
Clean the cooling system filler cap. Inspect the gaskets on the cooling system filler cap. Replace the cooling system filler cap if the gaskets are damaged. Install the cooling system filler cap.
