Rework Procedure
Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary.
1. Ensure the new lower ripper brackets being installed are of the appropriate engineering change level before proceeding to Step 2. See the Parts Stock Action.
2. Ensure that there are at least 2 ripper shanks installed in the working position in the outer shank pockets on the ripper carriage. Lower the ripper to the ground while driving slowly forward to bury them at least half way. Stop forward motion, place the machine in neutral and back up slightly to put rearward pressure on the ripper shanks. Set the park brake.
3. Refer to the Operation Section in the OMM under the "Equipment Lowering with the Engine Stopped" to place the blade and ripper on the ground.
4. Support the 189-0985 Lower Ripper Frame Assembly appropriately to prepare for removing the brackets. Attach a suitable lifting device to the 189-0985 Ripper Frame.
5. Remove the 5C-6565 Bolts retaining the 2K-0703 Retainer Plate. Remove the 3K-8510 Pin through the rod end of the ripper cylinder. Refer to Image 1.2.1.
