Remove flywheel.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove bolts (1).

Use Tooling (B) to remove seal assembly (2) and the O-ring seal.

Remove lock rings (4) and sleeves (6)
Install Tooling (A) into crankshaft gear (5)
Use a suitable lifting device to remove crankshaft gear (5).
Remove bolts (3) and crankshaft gear (5). The weight of crankshaft gear (5) is approximately 109 kg (240 lb).

Use Tooling (C) to remove wear sleeve (7). Installation Procedure
Install wear sleeve (7) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (D) to wear sleeve (7).
Lubricate sealing lip of seal assembly (2) with the lubricant that is being sealed.
