Rework Procedure

Prior to visiting the machine or engine:
1. Download all necessary flash files to update the PL631 device and PLE601 device if present.
Note: The Product Link PLE601 Network Manager flash file (P/N: 526-9982) may not be available in SISweb. If the flash file is not available in SISweb then create a GDSN System Technology Service Request (SR). In the request state the Service letter number, and "Requesting the 526-9982 flash file part number for updating the Product Link PLE601 Network Manager". If requesting this part number from GDSN then it is only to be used on the affected serial numbers called out in this service letter.
Note: Cat Electronic Technician (Cat ET) 2015A and an updated Comm Adapter must be used. Depending on the engine installation type, the engine may require the standard Ethernet service cable (425-6889) male to male Ethernet cable to flash the telematics device.
At the machine/engine:
2. If the Product Link PLE601 Network Manager is present then flash with the 526-9982 (or newer) flash file.
3. If the Product Link PL631 Satellite Radio is present then flash with the 526-9873 (or newer) flash file.
Note: Refer to REHS8850 - Flash the PLE631 Product Link System Using Winflash for assistance with flashing a PLE631 system.

1. Dealer creates a GDSN System Technology Service Request (SR) to flash the current software to the Product Link PL641 or PLE641 radio system on the affected serial number via Flash-Over-The-Air (FOTA)" after contacting customer for consent to flash. Please put "FOTA" and other relevant Affected Serial Numbers in the Description of the SR prior to submitting the SR to Caterpillar.
Note: Dealer can submit multiple Affected Serial Numbers in a single Service Request.
2. Once the GDSN ticket is in system the Caterpillar Service Engineer will push the flash file to the devices remotely.
3. Follow up is done by the Caterpillar Service Engineer and the GDSN ticket is closed out after all of the affected serial numbers are updated. (or after 30 days, if some devices are not running during this time period)
