Note: Care must be taken in order to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. You must be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component that contains fluid. Check for blockages, kinks, or restrictions in both the supply and return oil lines that may prevent oil flow to the hydraulic components. Hydraulic components cannot operate without oil flow from the pump. Hydraulic components cannot operate properly with reduced flow or pressure available to motors, cylinders, actuators, and so on. Correct any problems that are found, then retest the system. Kinks or restrictions in hydraulic lines and hoses also act as an orifice, creating excessive noise and heat as high-pressure oil is forced through a passage that is smaller than the original design.Leaks At Fittings And Connections Of Hydraulic Lines/Hoses
Check for leaks at all fittings and connections of hydraulic oil hoses/lines/tubes in the hydraulic fan system. Leaks at fittings and other types of hydraulic line connections may cause loss of oil flow and prevent components from attaining pressures necessary to perform work. Flow losses generate complaints of component speed (fan speed or cylinder speed).Leaks at fittings and connections on the pressure side of pumps are a direct source of oil loss in the system. Oil loss in the system may lead to component failure if the pumps and motors are starved of oil. Leaks at fittings and connections on the suction side of pumps are a direct source of oil aeration. Oil aeration may also damage components via cavitation and may create excess or unusual noise.Correct any problems found, then retest for the symptoms.Pump Control Valve Is Not Operating Properly
If any of the component parts of the pump control valve are damaged, or if contamination is causing spools to stick in the valve body bores, the fan cannot operate properly. Remove and disassemble the fan pump control valve. Inspect all spools, spool bores, springs, orifices, and passages to determine if there is any damage to these components. Inspect for contamination that may be causing a spool to stick. Clean, repair, and/or replace as necessary. If the fan returns to normal operation after these procedures, troubleshooting is complete.
