Refer to KENR5645, Disassembly and Assembly, Track-Type Tractors Power Train,
"Recoil Spring", in order to complete this Rework Procedure.
Refer to UENR4088, Disassembly and Assembly, Track-Type Tractors Power Train,
"Recoil Spring", in order to complete this Rework Procedure.
Refer to M0079656, Service Magazine, "An Improved Bolt and Washer Combination Is Now Used On Spring Recoil Units on Certain D5K and D5K2 Track Type Tractors", to compete this Rework Procedure.
Four new 8T-0357 Bolts and 496-9797 Washers and either one new 315-8448 or 463-5603 Spring Retaining Plate are required for repair of this mode of failure. The retaining plate is being replaced since the original plate is usually lost or damaged.
Remove the remaining portions of the broken bolts from the recoil tube. Reassemble the recoil unit with new bolts and washers per either KENR5645 or UENR4088, Disassembly and Assembly, Track-Type Tractors Power Train, "Recoil Spring".
If a failure occurs in one recoil spring assembly; the bolts and washers must be changed on the other recoil, reusing the existing retaining plate.
