SAFETY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR INSPECTING AND RE-INSTALLING THE 4332475 BATTERY CABLE ON CERTAIN D6R2 TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS

The ground cable (B-) needs to be inspected on the products listed below. The existing ground cable (B-) could be assembled incorrectly at the battery disconnect switch. Incorrect assembly can cause sparking which may, in conjunction with other factors or circumstances, result in a risk of personal injury or death. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.

Rework Procedure
Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary.
1. Turn the battery disconnect key to the OFF position.
2. Move cover (Rubber Boot)(2) off cable (1) connection to the battery disconnect switch. (Image 1.1.2)
3. Visually inspect the terminal to make sure that cable (1) is connected to the battery disconnect switch correctly. If the terminal is correct, then proceed to reinstall cover (2), otherwise proceed to Step 4. (Image 1.1.3, 1.1.4, 1.1.5, 1.1.6)
4. Remove ground terminal (B-) cable (1) from the battery. (Image 1.1.1)
5. Remove cable (1) from the back of the battery disconnect switch.
6. Reinstall cable (1) onto the back of the battery disconnect switch with nut (3), nut (5), and washers(4). Refer to Illustration 5 for the correct orientation of cable (1). Ensure that cable (1) is not touching the housing of the battery disconnect switch.
7. Reinstall cover(2) at disconnect switch, reroute cable through existing constraints and replace tie straps. Eliminate any cable twist and reinstall ground terminal (B-)cable (1) with the battery.
