Information:
The OCP supports three 2-wire, plus shield, individually isolated analog inputs.None of these inputs are dedicated to specific functions. The inputs are individually selectable +/- 10V bipolar, PWM, resistive sender, or current (0-20mA) inputs. The inputs are interface for senders and customer signals. For resistive senders, the negative signal is tied to the negative pin on the controller for that sender. The modes of operation are described below:
Voltage mode: 0-5 V with software-selectable sub ranges. The input impedance is a minimum of 1M Ohms
PWM Mode: approximately 500 Hz, non-synchronized, 5 VDC peak, 0.5 percent accuracy or better with software selectable sub ranges
Current Mode: The input impedance is a minimum of 50 Ohms and maximum of 250 ohms with software selectable sub ranges
Resistive Sender (VDO) Mode: 0-2000 Ohms, with 1 percent accuracy or 0.5 ohms, whichever is worseThe OCP offers analog input isolated supply. The supply voltage can be configured as either 5 V or 8 V. These supplies are to be used to provide power to sensors if required by the source power pin and analog input negative. The OCP offers three isolated supplies. The voltage supplies are defined in the following manner:
Can supply a minimum of 50 mA
Can be configured as 5V or 8V
Have overload protection
Are isolated from battery negativeEnsure that analog inputs that are programmed to monitor pressures are wired to sensors that read gauge pressure. Absolute pressure may be used if desired. The data range can be positive or negative for analog inputs, however, event thresholds are only positive. To prevent nuisance alarms for low warnings, disable the event response configuration if data is to be negative. Two of the inputs are dedicated parameters for a Mechanical Unit Injector Engine (MUI). These inputs are programmed at the factory to monitor the engine coolant temperature and the engine oil pressure. The first and second analog inputs are protected by level 3 security. The third analog input is protected at Level 2 security. The analog inputs can be configured by using the OCP display or by using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET). Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "ECM Connections" for electrical diagrams on connecting sensors to the control.Note: If the analog inputs are set to "DISABLED", then any sensor faults or events will not be broadcast or annunciated on the network. Note: If more than one analog input is configured for the same physical quantity (that is, the setpoint "Analog Input Data Identification" matches between two "Analog Inputs"), then the higher numbered "Analog Input" value will be displayed on the "Engine Overview" screen. For example, if both "Analog Input #2" and "Analog Input #3" are configured for oil temperature, but the sensor is connected only to "Analog Input #3" (and "Analog Input #2" is left open), a display of "****" diagnostic will result. The "Engine Overview" screen will display the value from "Analog Input #3". Warnings and shutdowns will be monitored for both analog inputs. When troubleshooting inputs, always make sure to check for configuration conflicts. The analog inputs are
