Service the air precleaner only with the engine stopped. Component damage could result.

(3) Precleaner air inlet This precleaner has an internal turbine that must spin freely in order to operate properly. Dust and other particles are ejected from dust ejector slot (1) due to the force of the spinning internal turbine.
Inspect dust ejector slot (1) for accumulation of dirt and debris. Remove any dirt and debris that is present.
Inspect precleaner air inlet (3) for accumulation of dirt and debris. Remove any dirt and debris that is present.
If necessary, loosen mounting clamp (2) and remove the engine air precleaner assembly to facilitate more thorough cleaning.
Clean the air precleaner assembly with compressed air or wash the air precleaner assembly in warm water.
Dry all of the parts.
Check to see that the internal turbine will spin freely.
If removed, install the air precleaner assembly and tighten the mounting clamp.
