Generator SetC1.5 (S/N: TAF698-699,778-779,783-795,797-798,800-802,804-809,811-817,819-821)There have been some isolated instances with the 323-8729 Exhaust Manifold on certain C1.5 Marine Generator Sets.

A water transfer port (1) in the exhaust manifold has been drilled in the incorrect location. Refer to illustration 1. This has caused a partial blockage in the passage from the cylinder head and an inferior sealing of the gasket.
Remove the existing exhaust manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, Exhaust Manifold - Remove and Install for the correct procedure. Verify that water transfer port (1) has been drilled in the incorrect location.

Typical example
Obtain a new exhaust manifold and associated parts. Verify that the new exhaust manifold has the water transfer port (2) in the correct location. Verification may be carried out by positioning a new gasket to determine if the holes in the exhaust manifold match the holes in the gasket.Note: The part number for the exhaust manifold has not changed.
Install the new exhaust manifold and associated parts. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, Exhaust Manifold - Remove and Install for the correct procedure.
