This Special Instruction provides the procedure in order for the initial filling of the dosing cabinet tank with DEF.On the initial filling of the dosing cabinet tank with DEF fluid, the aftertreatment ECM will log the following low tank level event codes: 1761-1, 1761-17, and 1761-18The engine ECM will log the following code: 4792-31Initial Filling

The 1761-1, level 3 (most severe) low tank level event code will prevent the engine from starting. Upon initial filling of the dosing cabinet tank, once the DEF fluid level is above 55 percent full, the logged event codes can be cleared. These must be cleared to allow the engine to start. Refer to Illustration 1.
