Automatic Differential Lock
Both front and rear axle differentials are equipped with locking mechanisms and the machine control system will engage the differential lock when conditions are appropriate. The Automatic Differential Lock system has two engagement strategies: the ground engagement strategy and the wheel slip detection strategy.The ground engagement strategy activates when the machine is digging and in other high torque operations. This strategy is intended to prevent slip before it occurs.The wheel slip detect strategy is constantly comparing actual wheel speeds with expected wheel speeds. If the speed difference becomes large enough, a slip is detected and the differential locks will activate. This strategy is intended to react to slip after it occurs.The following operating conditions are required for the automatic differential lock to engage:
The engine is running
The ground speed is less than 20.1 km/h (12.5 mph).
The transmission is in neutral, first gear, second gear, or third gear.
The articulation angle must be less than 22 degrees.
The left brake pedal must have been released for more than 0.5 seconds.Additional Machine Settings
When the machine is equipped with Automatic Differential Locks, additional machine settings may be available within the monitoring system. The additional settings are located in the "Auto Diff Lock" setting list.Auto Diff Lock - Allows the operator to "ENABLE" or "DISABLE" the automatic differential lock feature.Additional Parameters
When the machine is equipped with differential locks, additional machine parameters are available in within the monitoring system. The additional parameters are located in the Brake/Axle parameter list.Front Axle Diff Lock Sol Cur - Displays the current to the front axle differential lock control solenoid.Rear Axle Diff Lock Sol Cur - Displays the current to the rear axle differential lock control solenoid.Left Front Axle Speed - Displays the rotational speed of the left side of the front axle.Right Rear Axle Speed - Displays the rotational speed of the right side of the rear axle.
