ACTION REQUIRED
Remove cover (1) and plate (2).
Prepare to install 8X4711 Ground Boss in area indicated by arrow (Image 2).
Measuring from the outside of the left side frame and inside of indicated mounting plate, prepare surface for welding and weld 8X4711 Ground Boss to frame. Use the measurements provided in Image 3.
Using 8T-4179 Bolt and 8T4223 Washer, fasten 149-4993 Cab Ground Strap to installed boss. Tighten to a torque of 100 +/- 20 N.m (75 +/- 15 lb ft).

The 8X4711 Ground Boss for the cab ground needs to be installed on the products listed below. The Ground Boss was not installed at the factory on these trucks. Trucks without the Ground Boss installed may experience intermittent electrical issues. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 09Oct2012 when scheduling this service.
