GASKET 5276836 - Caterpillar

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

The transmission gearbox is located in front of the center hitch.
Operate the machine for a few minutes in order to warm the oil. Park the machine on level ground and apply the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent machine movement.
Shut down the engine.
To access the transmission gearbox, use the following steps to tilt the fuel tank:

Note: It may be difficult to tilt the fuel tank if the fuel tank is full. It may be necessary to drain the fuel tank before you tilt the fuel tank.
Remove two bolts (3) on the side of the tank.
Raise the hood for the hydraulic tank.
Insert a pry bar into lifting point (4). Use the pry bar to tilt the fuel tank.
Move rod (2) into position in order to keep the fuel tank from falling down. Chain (1) will keep the fuel tank from tilting too far.

Remove oil filler plug (6) .

Lower the bottom guard. Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Bottom Guard Lowering" for more information.
Remove drain plug (8) for the transmission gearbox oil. Drain the oil into a suitable container. Clean the drain plug and install the drain plug.
Raise the bottom guard.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Bottom Guard Lowering" for more information.
Fill the transmission gearbox with new oil through the filler plug opening. Maintain the oil level according to the marks on dipstick (7). Clean the dipstick and install the dipstick.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for the correct type of lubricant and for the capacity of the transmission gearbox.
Remove breather assembly (5). Clean the breather in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Inspect the breather. Replace the breather, if necessary. Install the breather.
Operate the machine for a few minutes. Check for oil leaks. Check the oil level of the transmission gearbox.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission Gearbox Oil Level - Check" for the correct procedure.
