Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
Hydraulic fluid may leak from the connection between the suction strainer and the hose assembly on the hydraulic tank.Solution
If hydraulic fluid leaks from the suction strainer on the hydraulic tank, replace the former O-ring seal for the strainer with a new 8C-5193 O-Ring Seal . Apply thread sealant to the threads of the suction strainer. Use the procedure that follows in order to reassemble the suction strainer.
Back off the locknut as far as possible. Make sure that the O-ring seal is pushed back as far as possible in the groove. Lubricate the seal with hydraulic fluid prior to reassembly.
Apply approximately 50 cm (20 inch) of Loctite 55 thread sealant to the threads of the suction strainer.
Reassemble the strainer in the hydraulic tank. Tighten the strainer by hand until the seal contacts the face of the tank and resistance is felt.

(A) Notch (B) 8C-5193 O-Ring Seal (C) Suction strainer
Orient the strainer so that the notch in the lip of the strainer is pointing directly upward. Rotate the strainer counterclockwise in order to orient the notch correctly. Rotate a maximum of one revolution.
Place a wrench on the head of the strainer and hold the strainer in the correct position. Tighten the locknut and the washer to a torque of 15 2 N m (130 15 lb in).
Check the connection for leaks.
