Information:
1. Lower the blade to the ground.2. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system as follows:
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury, perform the following procedure before working on the hydraulic and steering systems.
a. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from any working machines and personnel. Lower all implements to the ground. Install the wheel lean pin in front axle.b. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel either away from the machine or in the view of the operator.c. Activate the parking brake. Place all implements on the ground and put the blade in the "FLOAT" position.d. Stop the engine.e. Turn the steering wheel back and forth several times to relieve pressure in the steering accumulator.f. Carefully loosen the filler cap on the hydraulic tank to release pressure in the tank.g. Be sure all hydraulic pressure is released before any fitting, hose, or component is loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted.h. Tighten the cap on the hydraulic tank.i. The pressure in the hydraulic system must be released before lines or components can be removed.
Hydraulic pressure can exist in the hydraulic lines between the control valves and the cylinders with the engine stopped. Manually relieve pressure before working on any hydraulic circuit.
3. Put identification on the oil lines as to their location. Remove oil lines (2) from blade lift cylinder (1). Plug the lines in order to prevent the loss of oil and keep dirt out of the hydraulic system.4. Remove bolts (4) from the cap. Remove the cap and insert the shims.5. Fasten a hoist to blade lift cylinder (1). Remove four bolts (3) that hold the cap to the blade lift arm.6. Remove blade lift cylinder (1). The weight of the blade lift cylinder is approximately 87 kg (192 lb). 7. Remove caps (5) from blade lift cylinder (1). Remove the bearings and seals (6) from caps (5). The following steps are for the installation of the blade lift cylinders. 8. Put caps (5) in position on a shop press. Install the bearings with Tooling (A).
Tooling (A) and a shop press must be used when installing bearings to prevent damage.
9. Install a new seal (6) in each cap (5) with Tooling (A). Install the seals with the lip toward the inside of the cap. 10. Install caps (5) on blade lift cylinder (1). 11. Fasten a nylon lifting sling and a hoist to blade lift cylinder (1) and position it on the machine.12. Install cap (5) and bolts (3) that hold blade lift cylinder (1) to the lift arm.13. Install oil lines (2) to their correct location on blade lift cylinder (1). 14. Put 5P-0960 Grease on the inside surfaces of inserts (9) and (11).15. Install new insert (9) and shim (8) on ballstud (7).16. Start
