The hoist pump is mounted on the torque converter and the pump is operated whenever the engine is running.Drive gear (6) and driven gear (3) are a close fit in housing (2). This forms a series of chambers (5) between the gear teeth and the housing.Oil is pushed into inlet port (1) by atmospheric pressure in the tank. The following actions take place when the pump is running: The oil enters the inlet port and the oil is carried around the outside of both gears in chambers (5). The oil is discharged from outlet port (4) .Oil for lubricating the shaft bearings flows through the passages in the housing. These passages are connected to the outlet port.
