To prevent possible personal injury, release all the pressure from the hydraulic system before any lines are disconnected.
1. Disconnect hoses (1) from steering cylinder (2). Put caps or plugs in the ends of the hoses to prevent any oil loss. 2. Fasten nylon strap (3) and a hoist on steering cylinder (2).3. Remove the bolts, yokes (7) and pin (4) that hold the rod end of the steering cylinder to the steering links.4. Remove pin (6) and pin (5) that hold the head end of the steering cylinder to the frame.5. Remove steering cylinder (2) from the machine. The weight of the steering cylinder is 241 kg (535 lb.).Install Steering Cylinders
1. Fasten nylon strap (1) and a hoist on steering cylinder (2). Put it in position on the machine as shown. 2. Install pin (4) that holds the head end of the steering cylinder on the machine. Install pin (3) that holds pin (4) in place. 3. Connect the rod end of the steering cylinder to steering links (6). Install pin (5) and the yokes that hold the rod in place. 4. Connect hoses (7) to steering cylinder (2).Disassemble Steering Cylinders
START BY:a) remove steering cylinder1. Put the steering cylinder in position on tool (A). 2. Use tooling (B) and remove the bearing from rod assembly (1). 3. Use tooling (B) and remove bearing (3) from cylinder assembly (2). 4. Remove bolts (4) that hold the head to cylinder assembly (2).5. Use tool (A) to make a separation of cylinder assembly (2) from rod assembly (1). 6. Use tooling (C) to remove the nut from the rod assembly. 7. Remove piston (6) and head (5) from rod assembly (1). 8. Remove wear ring (8) and seal assembly (7) from piston (6). 9. Remove O-ring seal (10) and backup ring (9) from head (5). 10. Remove seals (11), (12) and (13) from the head.Assemble Steering Cylinders
1. Inspect all parts of the steering cylinder for wear or damage. Make a replacement of parts if necessary. 2. Install inner seal (4) in head (3). The inner seal does not have a lip and can be installed either way. Install middle seal (2) with the lip in. Use tool group (B) and install outer seal (1) with the lip out. Put clean oil on the seals. 3. Install backup ring (6) and O-ring seal (5) on head (3). Make sure the backup ring is away from the oil in the cylinder. 4. Put tool (C) in position on rod assembly (7). Ilstall head (3) on rod assembly (7).
Do not make the plastic seal of seal assembly (10) any larger than necessary for installation.
5. Use tool (D) to expand the plastic seal that is part of seal assembly (10).6. Install seal assembly (10) and wear sleeve (8) on piston (9). 7. Put piston (9) in position on the rod assembly.8. Put clean oil on the threads of the rod assembly.9. Install the nut on the rod assembly and use tooling (E) to tighten the
