The machines with 341-1842 Fuel Level Sender As may have a connector plug that is difficult to fully seat into the receptacle on the Sender Connector which could cause intermittent open circuit faults. Additionally, if a connector is not fully seated, the latch on the plug portion of the connector (part of the machine wiring harness) could take a set and not capable of locking the two halves of the connector together.The plug connector, which is part of the machine wire harness, has a rectangular seal made of soft red silicone in the end of the connector body. When the seal comes in contact with Diesel Fuel, it swells. When the harness connector is plugged into the receptacle connector on the Sender, some resistance is felt before the lock actually clicks into place due to swelling of the seal. If the lock is not fully engaged and the connection is exposed to heat for a period of time, the connector will not latch. Thus, keeping the connector from locking.A 155-2269 Connector Plug As is used to connect the machine harness to the 341-1842 Fuel Level Sender As .Solution
If a machine is experiencing open circuit faults for the 341-1842 Fuel Level Sender As , check the harness connector plug to ensure that it is fully seated and the locking tab is up and latched. If a connector is found where the locking tab is not latched, it is recommended that the connector body of the harness (which includes the locking tab) to be replaced by a new 155-2270 Connecting Plug Kit .Note: The permanent corrective action with a new 341-1842 Fuel Level Sender As that has wire with improved anti-capillary capability against Diesel Fuel will begin production in the fourth quarter of 2014.
