Use Tool (A) to install two bearings (5) in cover (7), if the cover is equipped with bearings. The position of the bearing joint (6) must be within 30 15° of the centerline. The bearings must be installed so that the bearings are flush with the cover. Put clean engine oil on the inside diameter of each bearing.

Install cover (7) on the oil pump housing.
Install plunger (8) and spring (9) in the oil pump housing. Install retainer (10).

Install key (11) in shaft (4).
The oil pump must turn freely after it is assembled.

Install gear (13) on the oil pump shaft. Install bolt (12) and tighten the bolt to a torque of 54 7 N m (40 5 lb ft). Type 2

Use Tooling (A) to install bearings (8). Bearings should be installed with the outside surface of the main oil pump body (5). The bearing joints on the bearings should be oriented in the pump body at a specific angle. Refer to Illustration 7 above.

Use Tooling (A) to install bearing (9) in the spacer plate. Install the bearings at an equal distance on each side of the spacer plate. Install the bearings so that the oil holes are aligned with the oil holes in the spacer plate.

Before final assembly, check the condition and specifications of all of the parts of the oil pump. Refer to Specification, "BrakeSaver Engine Oil Pump".
Lubricate gears and bearings with clean engine oil before gears and bearings are assembled in the oil pump. Install the idler gear and the drive gear (10) in the main oil pump.
Install spacer (6) on the gear shaft. Align the holes in the spacer toward the pump outlet passage.

Use Tooling (A) to install bearings (11) in pump body (2) until bearings are 1.52 0.025 mm (0.060 0.010 inch) from the inside edge of the bearing bores. The bearing joint on the bearings should be oriented in the pump body at a specific angle. Refer to Illustration 10 above.

Install pump gears (7) on the oil pump shaft.
Install pump body (2). Install bypass valve (12), spring (13), and retainer (3).
Install the key on the shaft.
The oil pump must turn freely after it is assembled.

Install gear (1) on the shaft. Install the washer and the bolt that secures the gear on the shaft. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft). End By:
