NEW MANIFOLD COVER FOR ON-HIGHWAY TRUCK BATTERIES
Starting mid May and running through June of 2003, East Penn Mfg. Inc., will be making a running change to the cover of our Truck Batteries Part Nos. 175-4390, 175-4370, and
175-4360. By July, all truck batteries should have the new cover.
These Maintenance Free batteries will now have an accessible manifold that allows the customer to check acid levels, should they so desire. While the Maintenance Free battery requires NO MAINTENANCE, some large fleet customers still like to have the ability to check acid levels during their maintenance checks.
The Truck Battery will still have the Cat® Racing Sticker on the front side of Battery, and still have a raised "Caterpillar", "Maintenance Free" and the Part Number embossed on the manifold. Terminals will remain as "stud-type". The only change is the accessibility feature.
The accessibility "caps" are flush with the manifold allowing the battery to still have a "flat top". Since this change will give us a more common cover production capability with other PHO Group 31 batteries produced by East Penn, production and shipment times for Truck batteries should improve.
