Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Remove clips (1), if necessary.
Remove bolts (2). Remove elbow (3) and tube (4).
Remove the gasket from elbow (3). Remove the O-ring seals from tube (4).

Attach a suitable lifting device to engine oil cooler (6). The weight of engine oil cooler (6) is approximately 79 kg (175 lb). Remove bolts (5).

Remove the clamp assembly from tube assembly (7). Disconnect tube assembly (7).
Remove bolts (11) from the bottom of engine oil cooler (6).
Slowly lift engine oil cooler (6) away from the engine. Tube (8) and tube (9) will slide from the elbow and the bonnet. Remove the O-ring seals from tube (8) and tube (9).
If necessary, remove the bolts from flange (10). Remove the gasket from the flange.
