1. Remove the nuts (1) and washers. Remove the main bearings and caps (2) as a unit.2. Remove the crankshaft with a hoist sling. Weight is 200 lb. (91 kg).Install Crankshaft
1. Put clean SAE engine oil on all main bearings.2. Put the crankshaft in position on the engine.3. Install the main bearings and caps as a unit in their respective locations with the number on the cap in relation and next to the number on the block.4. Put clean engine oil on the threads of the studs, washers and nuts. Install and tighten the nuts and washers in the following steps: 1. Tighten nuts A-B-C-D in sequence to a torque of 70 5 lb.ft. (9.7 0.7 mkg).2. Put a mark on the nut and end of the stud. Tighten nuts A-B-C-D in sequence 90° from the mark.5. The clearance between main bearing and crankshaft journal should be .0035 to .0066 in. (0.088 to 0.167 mm) for new bearings. Maximum permissible clearance between main bearing and crankshaft journal is .009 in. (0.23 mm).6. Check crankshaft end play with tool (A). End play should be .006 to .018 in. (0.152 to 0.457 mm).
