Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to plate (1). Remove bolts (4) and (3). Remove plate (1) and No. 1 rotating clutch (2) as a unit. The weight of the No. 1 rotating clutch (2) and plate (1) is approximately 31 kg (70 lb).

Remove retaining ring (5) and separate plate (1) .

Use Tooling (B) to remove retaining ring (6). Remove bearing (7) .
