Engine News SEBD9315, NOVEMBER 2002, "Procedure for Reconfiguring a 187-3511 Timer Gp to Annunicate a "Not In Auto" Alarm Without Generating Additional Alarms". Disregard the information that is mentioned above. Refer to the following information. If a EMCP II or a EMCP II+ is equipped with a remote annunciator, a jumper wire must be installed in order to annunciate the "Not in Auto" alarm. A wire jumper must be installed across terminals 6 to 9 of the Engine Control Switch (ECS). However, when the 6 to 9 jumper is installed, the ECM will remain energized at all times. This process is applicable only on 3406E, 3456, 3500B, and EUI gensets. When the ECM is energized, the ECM is prevented from resetting after an emergency stop or any other reset situation. If a jumper wire has been installed in a EUI type of genset, then the ECS that is in the EMCP can be rotated to the Off/Reset position in order to reset the GSC. However, the engine control module (ECM) will remain locked out. If a disconnect switch for the battery has not been installed, a timer can be installed in order to reset the ECM. The ECM will reset after the ECS switch is rotated to the Off/Reset position. When the ECM is reset, any potential fault condition will be reset. A restart related problem will be avoided when the ECM is reset.Note: This timer is now installed as standard equipment on all 3500 and 3400 gensets with electronic engines that are built in Griffin. This timer has no function on mechanical engines.Procedures
The 187-3511 Timer Gp must be reconfigured. Refer to Table 1 and Table 2.

3400 Timer WiringThe normally closed contact of the timer should be connected between the RM1 terminal and pin 10 of the Engine Control Switch (ECS). The Normally Closed contact keeps the ECM powered until the ECS is placed into the "Off/Reset" position. The GSC must remain powered in the "Off/Reset" position in order to produce a "Not in Auto" alarm. Terminal "A1" (+24 VDC) of the timer must be wired to terminal RMB+. RMB+ is wired to Pin 6 of the ECS. This provides continuous power to the timer. Timer terminal "A2" is wired to ECS terminal 1 (negative). Wire terminal B1 of the timer
