Guidelines for Selecting and Preparing the Installation Site
CAUTION: Power may not be applied to this system at any time during and after installation except by a Cat Qualified UPS representative. A Cat Qualified UPS representative must perform the initial system checkout and start-up to ensure proper system operation.Contact the local Cat Dealer Service provider in advance, to reserve a preferred start-up date.Installation Requirements
Important floor considerations: Flatness refers to the deviation of the floor from a smooth plane. Finish and measure anywhere on the floor so a gap at any point on the concrete surface, under an unleveled, freestanding, 3.05 m (10.00 ft)long straightedge, does not exceed 3.2 mm (1/8 inch).Levelness describes the local tilt or pitch of the slab. Finish and measure anywhere on the floor surface so that the level of slab at any point does not exceed 3 degrees.
CAUTION: Read this manual thoroughly before attempting to wire or operate the unit. Improper installation is the most significant cause of UPS start-up problems. Is preferable to install the system in a restricted location, to prevent access by unauthorized personnel.
Locating and anchoring the FPU and SIO cleats must be completed before the SIO and FPU cabinets and the flywheel module can be installed.Refer to the Installation drawings provided by the Cat Dealer, for specific layout dimensions required for successfully anchoring the system. Is important that the SIO and FPU cleats are square, shimmed to level, and anchored, before the SIO and FPU cabinets are installed.
Note: The Installation Checklist, found in this Operations & Maintenance Manual, SEBU8859, "Reference Information Section", must be completed prior to commissioning the UPS system for the first time.Adherence to the following recommendations will insure a successful and safe installation:
Proper planning will speed unloading, location, and connection of the UPS. Refer to the drawings provided by the Cat Dealer, to plan the installation of the UPS system.
The floor should be concrete or some other suitable substance that can meet floor-loading requirements of anchor bolts.
Handle the UPS in accordance with the "Warnings" in the Special Instruction, REHS9102, "Unpacking Instructions for the UPS 750". Use a suitable material handling device, with sufficient weight handling capability, to move the cabinet to the final location.
Inspect tilt and shock indicators. A 30 degree tilt is the acceptable maximum. The shock indicator should be clear (not showing red). If the tilt indicator has registered a tilt of over 30 degrees, or if the shock indicator is red (indicating registration of unacceptable shock), hidden damage must be suspected. Photograph the tilt and shock indicators in place on the cabinet for assistance in processing a damage claim.
Exercise extreme caution because of the uneven weight distribution. See Installation Overview Drawing, for cabinets center of gravity.
Plan the routing to ensure that the UPS can move through all aisle ways, doorways, and around corners without risking damage. If the UPS must be moved by elevator, check the size of the door opening and the weight carrying capacity of the elevator.
