Information:
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Ensure that the engine is stopped before any servicing or repair is performed.
The water separator can be under suction during normal engine operation. Ensure that the drain valve is tightened securely to help prevent air from entering the fuel system.
Use the same method when draining the primary fuel filter with a hand priming pump installed.

Typical example
Place a suitable container under the water separator in order to catch fluid to be drained.
Install a suitable tube onto connection (2).
Open drain valve (1) and allow the fluid to drain from filter.
When clean fuel can be seen to drain, tighten the drain valve securely, by hand pressure only.
Remove the tube. and dispose of any fluid in accordance with local regulations. Ensure that the filter is dry before engine operation.
If necessary, prime the fuel system, refer to this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".
