Move steering lock to the stored position.Park the machine on a surface that is hard, dry, and level.Steering Time -Check
Note: To check the steering time, park the machine on a dry, hard, level surface. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel away from the machine.
Run the engine at high idle. Move the tilt control lever to the TILT BACK position in order to increase the temperature of the oil to normal operating temperature. The oil is at normal operating temperature when the hydraulic oil temperature indicator is between the first mark and the second mark. Note: Do not stall the tilt control lever in the TILT position for more than 10 seconds. If necessary, release for 10 seconds and repeat the procedure.
Place the transmission in NEUTRAL position. Note: The hydraulic controls should also be in the NEUTRAL position. The parking brake should be disengaged.
Articulate the machine to the left or to the right until the machine stops articulating.
Run the engine at high idle. Note: Start to measure steering time when you start to turn the steering wheel. Measure steering time until the machine stops articulating.
Articulate the machine in the opposite direction until the machine stops articulating. Steering time should be 3.6 0.4 seconds. Note: The difference between the left steering time and the right steering time should not be greater than 0.3 seconds.
If, the steering time is not within specifications proceed to Steering Control Valve in the next section. Steering Control Valve - Adjust
Note: Adjustments to the steering control valve should only be performed after you complete the procedure in the following reference.
